Cybersaints: An Opinionated Guide to LDS Email Lists


This list isn't finished, and the opinions are my own. Please feel free to write to me at the address below.


  1. AML-List is a discussion of literature by and about Latter-day Saints. The tone is quite scholarly, and it enjoys moderate traffic.
  2. AML-Mag is a low volume version of AML-List consisting of selections from that list.
  3. Book of Mormon Linguistics is a discussion of the linguistics of the Book of Mormon.
  4. Brasil-SUD is a list for discussion in the Portugese language. Dave Kenison, who is the listowner, also runs LDS-Gems. (See below)
  5. Clean-LDS is a support group for those recovering from pornography addiction or abuse.
  6. Cougar-Best is a low volume, read only BYU sports list affiliated with Cougar-Net.(See below)
  7. Cougar-Net is a wide ranging discussion of BYU sports. The traffic can be quite heavy at times.
  8. CTR is a small list of primarily local interest for those who attend the University of Washington in the state of Washington.
  9. DailyBread is a read only list that posts a daily chapter from the Book of Mormon.
  10. Depression is a web based email list for those LDS who suffer from various forms of depression.
  11. Disciples2 is a moderated support list for Latter-day Saints who are committed to living the gospel even though they struggle with homosexual temptations.
  12. Elijah-l is a genealogy list specifically for Latter-day Saints.
  13. ELWC is an "invitation only" feminist list for Latter-day Saints agitating against the Brethren.
  14. EP Friend is a Scandanavian LDS list which is mostly in Swedish, but also other Scandanavian languages and English.
  15. ExMormon is for former Mormons who are recovering from membership in the LDS Church. No defending of the faith is allowed.
  16. Eyring-l is a discussion of science and Mormonism ranging from dissident to faithful depending upon whether the poster's faith is primarily in modern science or in the revealed gospel.
  17. Families2 is a moderated discussion among those who have a loved one that struggles with homosexual temptations. It is affiliated with Disciples2. (See above)
  18. Free Saints is a discussion where all are free to raise issues without fear of condemnation as long as they are negative about the Church. However, civility must be maintained.
  19. Gathering-l is dedicated to the gathering and establishment of Zion, in preparation for the Second Coming.
  20. Gospel Doctrine Teachers is for teachers and students to discuss styles of teaching and mostly for discussion of past and present lesson material.
  21. HLT is a German language list for Latter-day Saints. HLT Liste ist eine deutschsprachige Mailingliste für Mitglieder und Freunde der Kirche Jesu Christi der Heiligen der letzten Tage.
  22. Home Teaching/Visiting Teaching is for home teachers and and visiting teachers to share ideas, experiences, quotes, scriptures, and tips.
  23. Jewishness of the Book of Mormon is for the discussion of Judaisms in the Book of Mormon.
  24. Ldisabled is a list for saints struggling with handicaps and disabilities.
  25. Lamps is for discussion by the Latter-day Saint Association of Mathematical and Physical Scientists (James E. Talmage Society).
  26. LDS_Apologetics is a small, private list. New subscribers, while welcome, must have the sponsorship of someone currently on the list.
  27. LDS Bookshelf is a list for those interested in collecting and bookselling used and rare LDS books.
  28. LDS Coop is a discussion list for LDS home schoolers.
  29. LDSF is a list for Mormons by, for and about LDS science fiction.
  30. LDS-Gems is a read-only list with stories, news, history, quotes, and other "gems" of interest to Mormons. With over 15,000 members, it is the largest LDS list on the Internet.
  31. LDS-Grads is a list for single, LDS, graduate students. It is NOT merely a dating exchange.
  32. LDS-Hist is a list for the discussion of Church history. It is NOT for theological debate or the discussion of doctrine apart from history.
  33. LDS Home Educators is a discussion list for LDS home schoolers.
  34. LDS Home Schooler's Exchange is a web based list for LDS home schoolers.
  35. LDS-IRC is a general discussion list for Latter-day Saints. Verbal abuse, tastelss jokes, and anti-Mormon rant are prohibited.
  36. LDSLearn is another discussion list for LDS home schoolers.
  37. LDS-Net is the first and original LDS email discussion list. It receives very little supervision and is generally low traffic.
  38. LDS-Net is not to be confused with the above listed forum, this LDS-net is an email group for the cadets, friends and families of Westpoint cadets.
  39. LDS-News is a read-only list of general LDS news items.
  40. LDS-Phil is a list for professional philosophers who are LDS. Others are welcome too.
  41. LDS-Poll is a list for the discussion of politics from an LDS perspective. It is generally moderate to liberal in tone.
  42. LDS-Primary is for discussion related to Primary, the children's auxilliary of the Church.
  43. LDS-Research is for LDS scholars to exchange sources and discuss LDS topics on a scholarly level.
  44. LDSSA-l is a local discussion list for LDSSA (Latter-day Saint Student Association) members at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
  45. LDS Seminar is a list for the discussion and preparation of upcoming Gospel Doctrine lessons.
  46. LDS Sisters, a spinoff from Sister-Share (See below), is a moderated list for LDS women. To learn more, visit the webpage.
  47. LDS Stay-at-Home Moms is for discussion among LDS mothers who stay at home even though it is not particularly fashionable these days.
  48. LDS Sysops Network is an Internet gateway for LDS Sysops on the (FIDOnet) network.
  49. LDS-SSRL is a read-only list which daily sends out the scriptures that are supposed to be read for the upcoming LDS Gospel Doctrine Sunday School class.
  50. LDS Young Women's is a list for Young Women and their leaders in that Church auxilliary.
  51. LDSOUL-L ie. Operation Soul is a moderated list for short, inspiring posts from the perspective of a faithful Latter-day Saint. Most of the posts are from the listowner. The list is low traffic.
  52. Liahona is a list for LDS singles although it is not a dating service.
  53. Lista-LDS is a list in the Italian language for Latter-day Saints.
  54. Mary and Martha is a list for LDS women who are currently experiencing spousal abuse.
  55. MIT-Talk or Mormons in Transition, is a talk list for former saints and those who are about to become that way. Mentoring by former saints is available.
  56. MLO is a closed, by "invitation only," list for the listowners of LDS email lists. Listowners who do not already belong are invited to apply. The traffic is very low.
  57. Mormon-Index is for the announcing of new Internet resources for or about Mormons and Mormonism. Queries may also be posted.
  58. Mormonism and Kabbalah is for the discussion of Judaic Kabbalah as it relates to Mormonism.
  59. Mormon-l is the second oldest Mormon email list on the Internet after LDS-Net. It is notorious for its controversial, dissident and occasionally off-color discussion.
  60. Mormon-News is a list for the widespread dissemination of news of interest to Latter-day Saints from a wide variety of sources. Recommended.
  61. Mormon-Spanish is for general discussion among Spanish-speaking Latter-day Saints.
  62. Mormons-Only is a moderated general discussion list for Latter-day Saints who want to avoid the Mormon bashing and bad feelings of such forums as alt.religion.mormon.
  63. PAF Users is a support list for the users of the LDS genealogy program, Personal Ancestral File, all versions up to and including 3.0. It is global in scope.
  64. Parents is for the general discussion of LDS parenting issues.
  65. Peace is a support group for Latter-day Saints suffering from depression, clinical and otherwise.
  66. Pioneer Cooking is a discussion of pioneer and dutch oven cooking techniques.
  67. Prep is a discussion of food storage and other preparedness issues.
  68. Quasi-LDS is VERY liberal in nature. The content is un-correlated and could be troubling to most True Believing Members. Nothing is so sacrosanct that it cannot be discussed.
  69. Quest is an "anything goes" general discussion list for Mormons with the only restraint being that civility must be maintained.
  70. Relief_Society-l is a list for assisting LDS women in their unique and important callings within the Relief Society.
  71. Restoration-l is a general discussion list for those "Mormons" who belong to or are interested in the so-called "Restoration" churches which descend from Joseph Smith outside of the SLC church tradition.
  72. Ruth and Esther is a mailing list for LDS women who have struggled with sexual abuse in their lives.
  73. Saints-l is a very small list for members of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (RLDS). Sometimes it will go for months without a post.
  74. Samu-l is a moderated, scholarly list for those Latter-day Saints interested in antiquities. Off topic discussion of restoration Church history is not welcome.
  75. Sanctify is a list for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who are concerned about inactive, non-member, or new member loved ones.
  76. Scouts-LDS is for LDS Scouters.
  77. Scripture-l is a moderately scholarly list for the Latter-day Saint study of scripture.
  78. Seminary is a list for seminary teachers and C.E.S. professionals. It is not affiliated with C.E.S. or the Church however.
  79. Sister Share is a list for women only. It is the original "Relief Society" type list on the Internet.
  80. Sisters-l is apparently run by Carole Rohrings. She says, "Sisters-L@rootsweb.com is not really active, but it is alive. To join, write to sisters-l-request@rootsweb.com and in the message only put subscribe.
  81. Spirit is for sharing and saving LDS-oriented spiritual thoughts, quotes and stories.
  82. Teens is for discussion among LDS teens.
  83. Theology-l is a general discussion list for members of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  84. Voicings
    for LDS women who desire to follow the prophets and apostles in spite of same sex temptations.
  85. WOOL is a read-only list with "words of our leaders" mailed out daily by Scott Birk.
  86. WOW ie. words of wisdom, is a daily quote from one of our leaders which is sent out by this read-only list. Don't confuse this list with WOOL listed immediately above.
  87. WW-LDS focuses on the world wide Church. It is a discussion of the gospel in its international setting.
  88. Zion is my list, a general discussion for Latter-day Saints who find joy in following the prophets. A "spirit of criticism" towards the Brethren is prohibited.
