Problem Fixes
I can't FTP to my web site.
First, see if you can get to your web site using a web browser.
If you can not reach your site with a web browser, see I
can't visit my web site.
If you can get to your site with a web browser, but can not reach
it with FTP then try these things.
FTP if very straightforward. There is not a lot of complex options that need to be configured, in fact trying to use fancy features may be the problem. Keep it Simple:
Host computer name, ID, and Password.
Check the hostname. It should be your Web Site name, like www.yourDomain.com.
Check the user ID and Password. User ID is not case sensitive but passwords
are case sensitive (Upper case and lower case DO matter in the password.)
Try creating a new site in your FTP program without any special features just
host computer name, ID, & password.
If your FTP program offers passive connection, try changing the setting.
Your FTP account here should send you directly to your folder, you do not need to specify an sub folders in order to get to your web folder.
If those look correct, and you can't get through, give us a call.
